It is our Mission to introduce each person that we meet to an exciting journey!  To help them find a healthy respect for others as well as themselves, a positive attitude, a consistent discipline, and to live life as an example to others.  To teach them to express themselves through the art of dance, music and fitness; to lead them to a positive challenge; to help them reach beyond their abilities; to help them see their potential, develop their goals, and realize the powers of their dreams.

Our Goal is to allow each participant to experience the elements of dance, music or fitness as they so choose; confidence, coordination, creativity, grace, rhythm, self-esteem, technique and appreciation for all of the arts and above all have fun!

COMPETITIVE DANCE & DRILL TEAMS

Academy of Performing Arts is proud to support Lone Star Jazz, our competitive drill team that offers dancers, ages 3 to 18, the opportunity to learn jazz, kick, lyrical, hip-hop, modern, prop, military, and pom-pom drill team style dances and techniques. Every student has the opportunity to dance regardless of their current skill level or previous experience. We have tryouts for placement on the team. Our students compete in four to five local competitions a year; so there’s no travel required. We also perform in parades, community events, and allow dancers to attend optional competitions outside the local area. Dancers learn teamwork, build strong positive attitudes, and develop their personal fitness level. And they form long-lasting friendships! Each team has dances specifically choreographed for beginning, intermediate, and advanced dancers.  Dancers can compete at their personal skill level without fear of being “cut” from the team.

Lone Star Jazz is our award winning competitive team as well as solos, duets, and small ensembles awarded at all levels of competition.

 Woodlands Christian Academy, John Cooper School, CISD, KISD, WISD, and MISD junior high and high school students who dance five hours or more with Lone Star Jazz per week may qualify to be excused from P.E. classes.  Dancers who participate in both team and officer dances may qualify for early release from CISD, KISD and WISD schools.
